The baseball competition at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing will be held over an eleven day period that starts August 13 and end with the finals August 23. Games will be played at Wukesong Baseball Field.
This is the last year that baseball will be featured as an Olympic sport, the International Olympic Committee has voted to remove basell for the 2012, and future Olympics.
The Olympic baseball competition consists of eight teams, and two rounds. In the preliminary round, each team plays every other team, once. The top four teams advance to the playoff round, with the finals decided the bronze, silver and gold medalists.This is the last year that baseball will be a part of the Olympic games. It will not return for the 2012 Olympics in London, or any Olympics thereafter, unless reinstated at a future date.
FITCHBURG - The Warning Track, an indoor baseball/softball facility located at 12 Baltic Lane, will offer a Softball Clinic running Saturday, Nov. 28 and Sunday, Nov. 29, from 3 to 6 p.m. Clinic instructors will include Joe Cataldo and staff.
