Basketball at the 2008 Olympic games in Beijing will be held from August 9 to August 22, with the Finals on August 23 & 24.



Basketball at the Olympics is competed in by both men and women. Teams qualify according to the FIBA (Federation Internationale de Basketball Amateur) zone they are affiliated with. Wildcards qualify in another tournament a few weeks before the Olympics. Those teams that did not qualify automatically from each zone, compete for the remaining Olympic spots.

Rule No. 1 of taking team photos for the Olympic games, don't mock the physical features of other ethnicities. Someone must have forgotten to tell the Spanish basketball team this important tidbit of information, because they full out mocked the eyes of the Chinese people in a photograph that ran in a Spanish newspaper.
