Olympic Cycling
The cycling competition at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics will be held from August 9 to August 23 at the Laoshan Velodrome, Laoshan Mountain Bike Course, Laoshan BMX Field and the Beijing Cycling Road Course.
Taylor Phinney Sets World Record
Chalk this up one up in the "Oh Hell Yeah" section of your score cards: Taylor Phinney's 3000-meter individual pursuit short course sprint time of 3 minutes 16.65 seconds is a new junior world record. As you might recall, Phinney, competing in just his 7th race, defeated Holland's Jenning Huizenga to take his first World Cup victory. That was in January of 2008 and it seems as though the 17-year-old from Boulder, Colorado just keeps getting faster.
In fact, it stands to reason that by the time the Olympics roll around, science will need to invent a special bicycle so he doesn't tear a hole in the time/space continum.
