Olympic Rowing
The rowing competition at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympic Games will be held form August 9 to August 17 at the Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park.
Both men and women compete in the rowing events at the Olympic games. Both sexes also race the same length of 2,000 meters. There are a limited number of spaces, so qualification events are held to determine who competes at the games. The main qualification comes from the previous year's World Rowing Championships. Each national Olympic Committee can onyl have one boat per event. The events are competed in by individuals, pairs and groups.Events
Men: quad sculls, double sculls, single sculls, eight, coxless four, pair
Lightweight Men: coxless four, double sculls
Women: quad sculls, double sculls, single sculls, eigh, cosless pair
Lightweight Women: double sculls
YOUNG rowing star Matthew Hnatiw took gold and bronze for the second year running at the British Indoor Rowing Championships – despite suffering an horrendous leg break in a football match that saw him on crutches until August.

The UMass rowing team concluded the 2009 fall season this past weekend at the Foot of the Charles Regatta in Boston. Amidst rain and winds gusting up to 15 miles per hour, two of the three novice boats competed in the eights race, finishing 14th and 26th. The Minutewomen will travel to DeLand, Fla. at the beginning of January for their annual 10-day training program.
