I can’t believe Madden is still ticked off for losing that La Prensa paper route back in ‘28. The “Omar Minaya only pursues Latino players” topic has appeared again this offseason and the propagators of this myth are out in full force. Perhaps it was brought on by the signings of Alex Cora, Henry Blanco and Elmer Dessens. Maybe embarrassing rubbish like this post is promoting it. Even the mainstream media has been involved, as Bill Madden of...

The following is from Brian Costa of the Star Ledger, via Twitter: …from what i understand, when you see a GM in the lobby, it means nothing is pressing… and so, it stands to reason, if nobody has seen omar in two days, it means he’s been hard at work… To follow Costa on Twitter, and his [...]

With the Mets reportedly improving their offer to free agent OF Jason Bay, Amazin Avenue’s James Kannengieser’s tackles the perception (voiced by one one his site’s own readers) that GM Omar Minaya is biased towards Latinos. Omar Minaya...looking as beaten as the floor-dusting asshairs of Coley Trimble. Every year, it seemed, Omar Minaya has been the rock star of the winter meetings, strolling through the lobby of the headquarters hotel as if he owned the place. The Mets were cool and hip, Minaya had a limitless reservoir of money and you just knew another free agent prize was on the way to Flushing. But those images are a hazy memory now, as Minaya acts like a...

Didn’t Phil Pepe, Leonard Shecter and the boys do a version of this? Some are calling on the Mets to do whatever it takes to win now. It is even reasonable to think that it is in Omar Minaya’s best interest to do this. A difficult 2010 could spell the end of Minaya’s tenure in New York, and what a shame that would be—for Minaya to act in the best medium-term and long-term interest of the team at the expense of his job. So far, however...
