Atlantis The Palm Hotel Dubai

Last month a spectacular opening ceremony, featuring some of the world’s top performers heralded the opening of the lavish Atlantis Palm hotel and resort in Dubai.
Costing $1.5 billion to build, the Atlantis is located in the centre of the Palm Jumeirah Crescent in Dubai.
The hotel boasts a total of 1,536 rooms and suites, and the exterior design features two hotel towers linked together by an impressive arch.
The resort is theme based on the lost city of Atlantis and includes an artificial marine habitat containing over 65,000 marine creatures. Other attractions are a Dolphin Encounter programme, water slides and an Atlantis-themed archaeological experience called “The Dig”.

This type of resort, spectacular though it is does not hold a lot of appeal to me, as I prefer quieter more natural surroundings. I am also concerned about the possible environmental impact that the building of these complexes may create.
