Sunday, the Steelers signed defensive end Orpheus Roye. Pittsburgh originally drafted Roye as a 6th round pick in 1996 played with them until he was signed by the Cleveland Browns as an unrestricted free agent in 2000. He was released earlier this year. "He is a veteran defensive lineman, a guy who knows how to play the game," said head coach Mike Tomlin. "He is a professional. We will see what he is capable of doing and work him out. New Cleveland Browns linebacker Matt Roth is happy to be out of Miami after what he termed a falling out with the Dolphins. Roth was claimed off waivers by the Browns this week after totaling 158 tackles and 12 1/2 sacks in five seasons in Miami. He started a career-high 14 games last season, three years after the Dolphins selected him in the second round of the draft.

Frustration got the best of Browns coach Eric Mangini, who now regrets suggesting the Detroit Lions faked injuries. Cleveland dropped a 38-37 heartbreaker in Detroit on Sunday, losing when the Lions scored a touchdown and kicked the game-winning extra point with no time on the clock.
