Orson Welles news, related photos and videos, and reviews of Orson Welles performances. According to Wikipedia: George Orson Welles was an American theater and film producer and director, and a theater, radio and film actor. Welles first gained notoriety for his October 30, 1938 radio broadcast of H. G. Wells' The War of the Worlds. Adapted to sound like a contemporary news broadcast, it panicked a large number of listeners. Welles and his biographers subsequently claimed he was exposing the gullibility of American audiences in the tense preamble to the Second World War. In the mid-Thirties his New York theater adaptations of a voodoo Macbeth and a contemporary Julius Caesar became legendary. Welles was also a practiced magician, starring in troop variety spectacles in the war years. During this period he became a serious political activist and commentator through journalism, radio and public appearances closely associated with Franklin D. Roosevelt. In 1941, he co-wrote, directed, produced and starred in Citizen Kane, most often chosen in polls of film critics as one of the greatest films ever made.

Claire Danes Flashes Crowd at ‘Me and Orson Welles’ Premiere

From:  skindalous.com
Claire Danes is pretty much a non-entity to me. She was hot during The Mod Squad days, but I was 12 then, I thought everyone was hot. Anyway, here she is at the “Me and Orson Wells” premiere flashing her nips and nips only. The woman has absolutely no breasts, but nipples are nipples. Read Full Story

More on Orson Welles

In this post's comments -- last week's video interview with Orson Welles -- Scott Smith, who hosts a fine blog called Screenwriting From Iowa , provided a link with some interesting biographical background re Welles: Orson Wells was born May 6, 1915 in Kenosha, Wisconsin. His mother died when he was nine and his father when he was 15 and I’ve always wondered if there was a part of Welles that resonated with the young boy in Citizen Kane who is separated from his parents. Shortly after his... Read Full Story

Video interview: Orson Welles

A blast from the past: Something I originally posted in June 2008. The Internet never ceases to amaze me. Below is an excerpt from an interview with Orson Welles . I've never seen it before today, never even knew of its existence until I started bumping around the web. Two things about the interview. First, Welles reveals that the idea of 'home' is very important to him because as a child, his family moved multiple times, so he never really had what he would call a home. Second, he confesses... Citizen Kane -- understanding "Rosebud"

Director: Orson Welles, 1941. Almost 70 years-old, Citizen Kane remains a classic, a masterpiece of cinema. This is surprising considering it was the directorial debut for Welles, who was only 24 years-old at the time and a Broadway producer and radio personality in New York. It was a box-office flop due to a massive anti-Kane newspaper compaign. Still, it garnered nine Academy Award nominations, winning one Best Original Screenplay (Herman J. Mankiewicz and Orson Welles). Later, in 2007 it... Read Full Story

In recent years I think it's safe to say The Dark Knight is the reigning champion for best viral marketing campaign which inspired activity from people all over the world. Orson Welles' 'War of the Worlds' Online Friday Night

I know a thing or two about the legendary War of the Worlds broadcast of 1938. It served as the initial inspiration for my master's thesis covering what was called "First Person Singular," the then-revolutionary narrative technique Orson Welles employed in his radio dramas, and how his later film writing owed such a debt to those early days of radio. Before Welles, only 23 at the time of War of the Worlds , almost all radio dramas employed a narrator separate from the story, but Orson... Read Full Story

20 Most Anticipated Period Films (Part 1)
