The Rams need a lot of work. That’s to be expected when you go 2-14, losing your last ten to close the season. Marc Bulger isn’t the answer at QB, but he’ll be with the team in ‘09 because he’d be too costly on their cap to cut. I don’t see them going QB with the second pick though because they would have over $100 earmarked to that position. A more likely scenario is they attempt the monumental task of replacing Orlando Pace with either Michael Oher or Andre Smith. Now that’s how you start a football season. If the fans weren’t optimistic going into the season they certainly will be now after a 38-3 beatdown on the St. Louis Rams. I was at Lincoln Financial field for the opener and actually had the opportunity to watch the game from two different vantage points. The first half I was 24 rows up from the field, section 122. Absolutely fantastic seats, but it was HOT down there today. The second half I was up in the Club Suites right behind the endzone. Adam Schefter of NFL Network reported today that after contract talks failed to produce a deal, the St. Louis Rams designated safety O.J. Atogwe as their franchise player. The safety franchise number for Atogwe is $6.342 million. Atogwe has 17 interceptions in four seasons with the St. Louis Rams, five of those came last season. The St. Louis Rams and safety Oshiomogho Atogwe have agreed to a one-year contract. Terms were not disclosed today. The 28-year-old Atogwe was designated as a non-exclusive franchise player in February. Atogwe led the NFL with eight interceptions in 2007. Last season, he started all 16 games at free safety for the third straight season and had a career-high 109 tackles.
