I read a lot about Chandos Lake so thought I would give it a try. Four hours of jigging, tube jigs, lures, trolling, top water and the only fish we caught was this bass..........ten minutes after we launched. We did have a small pike follow a lure..............so over the side ......figure eight...........followed it but wouldn't hit. Went for a drive this last weekend and took in the Colors in Haliburton. It was a beautiful drive, a little bit of rain but not bad. Took in some of the festivities going on in Haliburton, stopped into some of the shops, and generally played the role of tourist. On my way to work on the opening day of the Turkey season, I observed one of the most comical moments. As I passed a local gas station, I observed a guy in full turkey regalia filling up his Chevy pick up. I then realized that it was opening day for Wild Turkey. When caddis are skittering and flying about the streams surface, they tend to bounce around on top of the water. I’ve noticed this tends to happen in areas where the water is flowing quite quickly. Mimicking the behavior of caddis at this stage in their lives, the egg laying stage can be a tough task.
