Strategy Against Terrorism To Be Announced Tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: The present government will announce for the first time its comprehensive and administrative strategy regarding war against terror in the in-camera session of the Parliament on Monday.

President Asif Ali Zardari and prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani will approve the policy statement in a high-level meeting to be held in Islamabad today.

A source on higher position has revealed that a sketch of the official policy was prepared in the cabinet room of the Prime Minister Secretariat on Saturday evening.

This meeting, presided over by federal information minister Sherry Rehman, was attended by advisor interior affairs Rehman Malik, federal law minister Farooq Hammed Naik, secretary interior ministry Syed Kamal Shah, DG IB Shoaib Siddal and other senior officials of intelligence agencies.

Sources told that the meeting fully reviewed the situation continued in the country and announced the policy for dealing with the menace of terrorism.

This was also decide that reply to the reservations and proposals presented by the members in the Parliament would be given in the policy statement because the government has decided to keep the Parliament members well informed for dealing with sensitive matters so that a wide range consensus could be obtained.

Sources told that Rehman Malik provided valuable information during the exchange of views and his presence in the meeting averted the rumour of differences at any level in the government.

According to the sources, Sherry Rehman, Rehman Malik and other important minsters and advisors will attend today’s meeting also and the President and the Prime Minister will give the approval of the statement in this meeting.
