Obama may have beaten McCain by by 41% in Palo Alto, California, but that didn't stop a Tea Party from breaking out there today. The occasion was the Stanford -Berkeley game, a major local event attracting tens of thousands of alumni and football fans to the Stanford University stadium here in Palo Alto. Outside the stadium, they were greeted by a tea party: Some of the liberals took offense, claiming for example that death panels were "lies," but things generally remained civil. The one exception was when a mild-mannered but hungry protester went to a nearby restaurant for sustenance. He was refused service because ... Read Full Story

My “officially unofficial” predictions for BOYS 2009 CCS XC 1 Mountain View (D2) Rowe leads a talented group of runners that have all run the equivalent of 15:50 or better at Crystal. This team is not only one of the best in the CCS but the nation. 2 Carlmont (D1) This team is stacked and it is going to be a great duel with the Bells for the D1 section title. Their number 5 runner has hit 16:03 on Crystal, which is down the street from their school. Expect them to be dominant on their “home” course. 3 Bellarmine (D1) Don’t expect the Bells ... The news from Palo Alto Networks reinforces what we should probably expect will be the norm for the foreseeable future. According to the company's Application Usage and Risk Report, social technologies and collaborative applications are moving deep into the enterprise with Twitter seeing a 250 percent increase in use since Spring of last year. In face of a report like this, it makes sense that Enterprise 2.0 technologies would be a fit for companies. Employees understand how social technologies function. Collaborative applications make sense for getting the work done. Sponsor Here are some more results from the Palo Alto study: Sharepoint adoption increased 48 ... Read Full Story

I have been on the City of Palo Alto Parks and Recreation Commission since 2004, and I am applying again as my term expires the end of this year. I am hopeful that City Council re-appoints me. 3 of my colleagues whose terms also expire the end of this year have decided for various reasons not to "re-up." My understanding is that very few people have applied to fill the vacant positions on this commission. I also have heard around City Hall...
