Flip-Book look at DIY deuce taking off It’s fairly difficult to capture images of the Skyaak DIY deuce in mid-flight because it goes so fast. What I’ve done here is grab a series of frames from a recent video and lined them up ‘flip-book’ style just to give you an idea. This shows the beginning, just the first second or so (maybe less?) of its trajectory. It would be nice to get some video of 2 players from the side to capture more of the aero-action. That is totally on my wish list right now. It’d be great to see how it spins on ... Read Full Story

You can tell we’ve been slogging away for quite a while when you Google DIY deuce . It’s pretty obvious that Google will produce some high-quality ranking if you happen to know to search for DIY deuce . Google serves up a #1 listing for the Skyaak DIY deuce and then the deuce totally dominates the results for about 5 or 6 pages after that. BTW there are about 75,000 results from the search. There are only about 4000 results when you Google Skyaak . All directly related to Skyaak activities of course. No brainer there. When you Google ‘ ring wing glider ‘, ... Read Full Story

My good buddies Dylan and Jesse Cook popped in yesterday for a quick visit. Jesse has a friend in the city that wants a Skyaak Model 3 so he came out to grab a unit from the source. The above shows the package that Jesse picked up. The flat design makes the Model 3 easy to carry around and also makes it possible to ship anywhere in the world. While Dylan and Jesse were here they said sure, they would be happy to test out the DIY ‘deuce’, no problem. Dylan also mentioned that he would pass it around to some of his buddies ... DIY deuce frieze rotates model CCW. I think that is the coolest thing about the DIY deuce is that no matter how fast it flies, it seems to behave itself. This is due to the stabilizing effect of the ring-wings that is enhanced by the corkscrew motion. You can see for yourself when you magically convert your PC to a Skyaak vending machine! In just a few minutes from now you can try it out for yourself for just a couple of dollars. If curiosity has gotten the best of you, indulge yourself in this fun project and you will witness the cool aerodynamic ... Read Full Story

You can just throw your Skyaak DIY deuce exactly like a dart and get pretty good results, or you can introduce the ‘finger flicker’ advantage that increases your torque with less exertion. It’s true. When you place your index finger behind the finger flicker, and flick the unit with your finger just as you toss it you will notice a turbo-boost in the power of the flight. Your deuce will rocket ahead at fast scale-speed. Remember to hold the nose up a bit-about 10 to 15 degrees- above level when you are launching it. The cool thing is that the more thrust you give ... A couple of days ago I was visiting a friend of mine who happens to own a black light. He had switched it on and we noticed that the DIY deuce lit up like crazy and also looked pretty cool flying around in the dark room lit up with black light. I decided on the spot that I wanted to catch the image of the DIY deuce barreling through the darkness lit up by black light so I invited my friend over this evening. The deal was: he brings the black light, I supply a nice supper and some beer. He agreed and came ... Read Full Story

Scary and Exciting!?! Yesterday (November 13th, 2008) will go down in the books as a banner day here at Skyaak Enterprises. The day started off really great as we were picked up by CoolestGadgets.com . That was quite a rush! About 150 visitors later, we saw orders for the Skyaak DIY deuce start to appear. That sounds great, right? Not so fast! Our online vendor, Payloadz, which had worked magnificently up to this point, happened to fizzle out on us to crash and burn. So all of our customers were unable to download the pdf file they had purchased. Not so good, eh? Well, ... Read Full Story

It’s pretty hard to imagine what a glider might look like gliding without seeing it airborne. So I invited a couple of young Skyaak enthusiasts ( Charlie Clarke and his brother Mike) over this afternoon to work it out with their DIY deuce units and took the opportunity to put together a few short video clips. The video shown here is typical of the many throws and catches between us. Charley also decided to build his own deuce today. It took him about 15 minutes from the word go and he was ready to launch his freshly-minted unit on its maiden voyage!        Read Full Story
