Around 9pm a live band takes the stage playing jazz or rock, adding to the mellow ambiance. Grab a seat at the bar for easy access to the beer taps or grab a table. There is also cafe seating outside, and Cluny serves up food as well as drinks. The selection of beers on tap is a huge draw, which includes Guinness, Maredsous, Duvel, Leffe, Carslburg, Hoegarden, and much ... Read Full Story

This is everything you’ve ever imagined a Parisian cafe to be. Situated in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Pres in a cluster of cafes famous for their influential literary, artistic, and philosophical clientele, Les Deux Magot is a classic. You can almost see the ghosts of Simone de Beauvoir, Picasso, or Ernest Hemingway drift through the streets that they once hallowed. The name refers to two ornate Oriental sculptures that grace the dining room. A seat along the sidewalks outside makes for great people watching. Order the delicate cafe service and a pain a chocolate to keep you warm and enjoy. Then get lost window shopping ... Read Full Story

This iconic Parisian cafe on the left bank holds a great deal of history. At once a meeting ground of ex-patriot writers, like Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Gertrude Stein, the existentialists Jean-Paul Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir, and Alber Camus also camped out here. Today, grab an open table outside for a cafe and pastry, and work on your own masterpiece or swing by after a day of shopping on the fabulous rue de Rennes and order a refreshing kir royale with a small bowl of peanuts. If champagne isnt enough for dinner, the bar menu includes an excellent loignon soupe gratinee or ... Read Full Story

I’ll make a four hour trek way up into the mountains to the tiny (350 people tiny) town of San Gerardo de Rivas, where I’ll spend the next three months teaching English.  I’ll also be staying with a host family...

De la Soul = one of the all-time great groups in hip hop. I am privileged to happen to know these guys. Maybe I'll upload an interview I did on these guys for Bodega Radio some time....
