Former Olympian Pasha Grishuk Drugged

Pasha Grishuk, a former Olympic ice dancer was drugged with the common date rape drug GHB, a sheriff's spokesman said Tuesday.

Grishuk, who brought two Olympic gold medals home to Russia, in both 1994 and 1998, was attending a business meeting at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Hotel, in Orange county on April 12, when she says she began to feel ill and numb.

She looked at her drink during dinner, only to see a partially dissolved pill at the bottom of the class. After investigation, officers found a second dissolved pill in the bottom of a drink she had ordered earlier at the hotel's lounge.

So far, there's no information on how the pills ended up in Grishuk's drinks, who put them there or why.

GHB, or gamma hydroxy butyrate, commonly referred to as the date rape drug, causes breating problems, loss of consciousness, seizures, drowsiness, coma or death. It is a predatory drug, and is often mixed with alcohol to subdue a victim before a sexual assault.
