I'm a journalist, not a T.V. sit-com writer, but still... I've always wished I could write for Patricia Heaton in a sit-com. In " Everybody Loves Raymond, " she took great writing and made it sparkle — as did all of that terrific cast. And I was bummed when " Back to You ," which paired Heaton with another favorite of mine, Kelsey Grammer, went off the air, because I thought it was 80 percent as good as "Raymond" (making it better than most of what passes for comedy on T.V. today). So I was jazzed to receive an advanced copy of the series ... Read Full Story

Everybody Loves Raymond star Patricia Heaton will be starring in ABC’s newest domestic comedy about life in Orson, Indiana: The Middle While I’m not sure how the chemistry is going to be between Patricia Heaton and former Scrubs Star Neil Flynn acting as husband and wife, but this is certainly going to be interesting series. It isn’t to say that Patricia Heaton isn’t flexible as an actress, but I think she excels in domestic comedy and the world has been waiting for her to step back into one. Hopefully this one will be more about self-discovery and less about screaming at each other. Read Full Story

Starting in three weeks, ABC is pulling out the big guns---;or big laughs, rather---;with an unprecedented four comedy shows in their new fall lineup. All four shows feature some serious comedy-street-cred with each of them starring icons of classic American sitcoms: Kelsey Grammar (Dr. Frasier Crane from Cheers and Frasier), Patricia Heaton (Ray Barone's long-suffering wife on Everybody Loves Raymond), Courtney Cox Arquette (bossy Monica Gellar from Friends), and Ed O'Neill (the slovenly Al Bundy from Married…With Children). The four golden sitcoms that starred them are still widely revered and enjoy successful syndication, and may take viewers back to the glory days of comedy ... Read Full Story

Oh man. Even the ones you think are nice just don’t seem to be. Remember Patricia Heaton, the mom in “Everybody Loves Raymond”? Well, she’s just been slapped with a lawsuit by her former assistant. It turns out her former assistant, Jeniffer Lee, is claiming Patricia fired her for not keeping up with the actress’s busy schedule. Now, Lee is pissed off and suing for $7000 in unpaid wages including overtime. Come on Patricia! You can’t take advantage of the little people. You probably have $7K in your Prada purse just for valet money alone from all that cash you’re making on the reruns ... Read Full Story

I wasn't really prepared to like The Middle. I had no expectations, really, because aside from knowing that it was Patricia Heaton's latest sitcom, there had been very little scuttlebutt about it. So, when I tuned in, I expected the typical Patty Heaton I had seen for years on Everybody Loves Raymond or the upscale version I'd watched on Back to You. Well, what a surprise when I saw her on The Middle. This is a Patty I had never seen before...

Patricia Heaton returns to the type of role that won her two Emmy Awards during the nine-year run of "Everybody Loves Raymond" -- a sassy suburban mom -- in the new ABC sitcom "The Middle." And TV reviewers are heaping loads of praise on her for this new twist on an old format. Two years ago, Heaton and time-slot mate Kelsey Grammer ("Hank") teamed up as battling exes in "Back to You."
