Sir Paul McCartney says The Beatles weren’t much good at first

Sir Paul McCartney has said that his band The Beatles weren't much good when they first formed.

McCartney, 67, said he wasn't surprised that the record label Decca didn't sign the band in 1962.

He revealed: "We obviously weren't that good. We were formulating it all. You wouldn't have thought we were that great.

"You'd have turned us down if you were a record company. And they did – Decca turned us down!"

However, shortly after they were turned down, the producer George Martin signed them to EMI's Parlophone label.
