Welcome to another episode of As the Rocket Turns... So, it seems Paulette Dean Daly -- former wife of professional golfer John Daly -- likes her men fat, sweaty and rich. Obviously, we're talking about one classy broad here. More importantly, it seems that Roger Clemens likes to cheat on his wife. The two reportedly met circa 1997 (you know, when Daly was carted off to the hospital to treat alcohol poisoning) and became intimate after the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic in Palm Springs, where years ago she was a Classic Girl . She's still involved with the tournament, mostly as a party organizer. ... Read Full Story

This week’s runaway Tool Bag of the Week is winner is Roger Clemens. You haven’t heard much from the Roger Clemens camp lately mainly because he’s busy trying to develop a time machine so he can go back and fix the last 6 months of his life. When he was named in the Mitchell Report, he had the opportunity to address the issue, to offer his explanation, and to put the story to rest. He had the chance to take a path not taken by Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, or Rafael Palmeiro. He had a chance to be open and honest. The general public ... Read Full Story

Roger Clemens life story is turning out to be a lot like a juicy soap opera. As if claims that he had an affair with country singer Mindy McCready weren't enough, now the New York Daily News is reporting that Clemens had an affair with Paulette Dean Daly. Paulette is ex-wife of golfer John Daly, and she didn't exactly deny the relationship when asked about it by the News. "Yeah, I've known Roger quite a while and we are friends,'' Daly told the newspaper. When asked to elaborate on their relationship, Mrs. Daly seemed to be at a loss for words. "You know what, ... The sports world generally, and professional tennis specifically, was rocked by the recent admission (from his upcoming book) that Andre Agassi used crystal meth during a brief stint in his career. Worse yet--apparently--he lied about this drug use to tennis officials after he failed a drug test. (Obligatory disclaimer for ...

The Daily News I-Team is still around? I thought Tony Isabella was involved and it just sorta dissolved. Former congressman Tom Davis, who once led the House committee that helped destroy the baseball legacies of Mark McGwire and Roger Clemens, says he applauds McGwire’s return but thinks Clemens was in denial when he testified before Congress. “Everybody was speeding, and these are just the guys that got the tickets,” says Davis of the...

The Sportress of Blogitude made a good catch on John Daly's Twitter feed the other day.  The Amazing Shrinking Daly posted the secret to his weight loss success following lapband surgery.  He termed it the Daly Workout. via www.sportressofblogitude.com That's some nice work, John.  The guy is just shedding pounds thanks to a lapband, a self-constrictive diet to 500 calories per day, a packet of smokes, and resting in the arms of a butterfly...

An archer named John Daly accompanied Henry V to France in 1415, and thus is likely to have fought at the battle of Agincourt. Apparently English archers of the time may have been largely recruited from Ireland, Scotland and Wales and were often yeomen rather than landless peasants. I wonder how many Dalys there were 600 years ago?

Some especially ignorant people are suggesting that Egypt has never contributed to global culture. It might be about time that someone put a list together of the people who lived and worked in Egypt and contributed to world culture, from Archemides, to Ibn Kaldun and Ibn Battuta, Maimonides, to Cafavy, Forester, Durrell and Mahfouz. Perhaps Ursula Lindsey should do it.

Move over Edgar Mitchell...we’ve (actually Mike Silva) made contact! Since Clemens, and these are his words (via a spokesman), “is as direct and honest in his communications on Twitter as he is face to face” I decided to give him my form of direct and honest communication.
