I wasn't paying attention to the TV screen, so when I heard the Moldy Peaches ' distinctive doo-doo-ing I just assumed Juno was on again (HBO has been showing it a lot lately). But no. Why would anyone drive for 2 1/2 hrs in one direction for peaches? In an effort to get as local and organic of peaches that I could find, I grabbed a friend and headed for the Columbia Gorge Organic Produce farm in Hood River, OR . I go every year and get hundreds of dollars of organic white and yellow peaches, apples, pears, and nectarines. I called every fruit stand in my area to find that the same box of peaches would cost about $55! By going to the source, I got the 20 pound boxes for $15/each. Sitting under the majestic gaze of ... Hey kids! Remember how painful I found Peaches Geldof when I saw the horrendous ‘Fearne and… Peaches Geldof’ television special during my month in London? Someone has made a short video which may help explain to you why I want to slap her (emotionally – I don’t condone actual violence). (more…)

While we prefer both Peaches and Amanda Blank's recorded output in bite-sized chunks we consider both women to be formidable life performers to be wholly appreciated. We've seen Blank perform with Spank Rock a number of times and her spirited presence often stole the stage from her band mates. Friday night's show at The Metro had Blank performing with only a DJ and a live drummer, but her diminutive figure grew to envelop the...

It's the first hint that--although she is known for being outrageous and confrontational--underneath it all Peaches is the thinking man's diva.Peaches' fans have come to expect her flamboyant, gender-bending costumes and aggressive stage antics. Performance art aside, the substance of her music is...
