Top-ranked Florida may have a bigger concern than the flu bug right now. The team's receiving corps is in disarray, with Carl Moore and Andre Debose probably out for the season, and starters Deonte Thompson and Riley Cooper battling injuries. Throw in the fact that tight end Aaron Hernandez and receiver Justin Williams missed time because of flulike symptoms, and the Gators (3-0, 1-0 Southeastern Conference) aren't sure who will be running routes Saturday at Kentucky (2-0, 0-0). "Right now, our receiving corps is not up to Florida standards," coach Urban Meyer said. Not even close, really. One of the main questions coming into ... Read Full Story

I have made some references to this previously, but thought today would be a good opportunity to explore it a little further. Coach Childress has made allusions to the possibility of using Percy Harvin on punt returns for the second half of the season. Harvin practiced in this role during training camp, but it was widely reported that he did not appear comfortable and it was unnatural to him. Darius Reynaud won the job and was extremely productive. On his first seven attempts, Reynaud was averaging 17.3 yards per punt return. A hamstring injury sidelined Reynaud and Jaymar Johnson was given the duty of ... Read Full Story

So far, my nickname for Percy Harvin has held up on both meanings. Percy Harvin, known for having some sick playmaking ability, missed practice yet again due to an illness. It became known that Harvin was struggling with migraines earlier this season, so it appeared likely that this was the same issue. Tahi was surprised , however, that Harvin wasn’t at practice today. He said that Harvin had gotten the migraines “taken care of.” Nobody is too worried about the situation, though. Brad Childress expects Harvin to be back in practice on Friday and Judd Zulgad of Access Vikings tweeted “From what I’m hearing ... Read Full Story

The agent for Percy Harvin is expected to open negotiations in earnest with Minnesota this week in hopes of getting his client signed by the time the Vikings report to training camp on Thursday. Agent Joel Segal says he formed a special bond with Harvin while dealing with adversity at the NFL scouting combine in February. Harvin tested positive for marijuana at the combine, which initially hurt his draft stock. But with Segal's help, Harvin was able to get past that mistake and convince the Vikings that his troubles were behind him. The Vikings selected the Florida star with the 22nd pick overall and ... Percy Harvin won the Rookie of the Week award. Voting from fans is how the award is decided. Harvin beat out Shonn Greene, Jacob Lacey, Beanie Wells, and Jairus Byrd. Mike Wallace of the Steelers had 3 catches for 72 yards and a touchdown and also ran twice for 18 yards but was not considered for the award even though his team beat Harvin’s. Then again, it is pretty hard to argue with this play: Read Full Story
Vikings coach Brad Childress went the extra mile -- a few thousand miles, actually -- to see if Harvin was worth the risk. He decided he was and he just might be correct, as hes the early favorite for offensive rookie of the year.
