So, I had a very interesting fortnight. So, I watched A Wednesday and The Last Lear . And I was disappointed with the later. ‘A Wednesday’ was a good attempt for a debutante, so I would ignore couple of flaws but ‘The Last Lear’ was a lot disappointing. Btw, an interesting article about ‘A Wednesday’ here . Now coming to TLL, Why do our actors fake their accent whenever they act in an English language movie? By accent I don’t mean they put on Brit or Yankee or any other accent. It looks our actors are speaking forced English. They are very good at ... Read Full Story

A number of my posts here have noted the way my memory of past events is quite restricted. Only memories of certain events in my life—exceptional in the impression they made on me—have survived the decades, and even then in fragment and mist. I talked about this phenomenon in Something on Memories . I’ve actually become much more aware of it through my writing here, and I can’t say how typical it is. I’m caged in this old house. Caged, I tell you. And when I go out, a demon is unleashed. Picture this: You’re in your 40’s, living at the Jersey shore in the winter. You were born here, so it’s like returning to a tub of dirty bathwater – lukewarm, comfortable but essentially gross. Oh… and let’s just say you’re kinda cute, too. You decide to go ... I need water around me at all times. Just another one of my “things.” So I have a Brita pitcher in my bedroom. Yesterday, upon depleting it, I brought it into the kitchen. When I opened the lid, there were about 200 ants crawling about, having a party. Some were dead, some were mating, some staring off into the distance, drunk on my water. I’ve been drinking ants for days and hadn’t a clue. It made me wonder how many other gross things are happening to me without my knowledge. One can only wonder. I remember as a child finding bugs in my oatmeal ... Read Full Story
