Peterbald Cat Brush Coats

This year the brush coat was introduced as a new trait by TICA breeders showing the Peterbald Cat.  There is a wide variety of brush coat possibilities.  The hair length and thickness runs across the entire spectrum.  The texture ranges from barely noticeable coarse rough texture to complete coarse rough texxture, to very fine soft hair.  It is much easier to breed an excellent type brush coat than it is to breed even an average type totally hairless Peterbald cat.  An excellent type brush coat Peterbald can be produced in one breeding while it can take generations of breeding to produce an acceptable type born hairless Peterbald cat.  However, the brush and the born hairless are judged in TICA shows as equals for purposes of evaluating type.  If the type is the same in a brush and a hairless cat, the award is to fall to the hairless.
