Petraeus Report
The much anticipated "General Petraeus Report" on progress in Iraq will help frame the debate about the US strategy in Iraq and proposed troop withdrawal.
Latest Poll Shows General Petraeus Approval Rating Rising Among the American Public
According to this article, General Petraeus has managed to turn public opinion of him and his Iraq war policy in his favor since his testimony in front of congress.
54 percent of respondents said they believe Petreaus’ plan for removing troops is the right pace or too quick, while only 33 percent view the withdrawal as moving too slowly. Also, 52 percent of those polled said the plan withdraws the right amount or too many troops, while 36 percent said it removes too few troops.
a higher percentage of respondents now view the top U.S. military commander in Iraq favorably (61 percent) than before his testimony (52 percent), while only 22 percent view him unfavorably. The Gallup survey comes one day after the Pew Research Center released its latest findings that gave Petraeus high marks for his integrity and proposals.
In that poll, 57 percent of Americans who read or heard about Petraeus’ testimony approved of his recommendations for Iraq, while only 28 percent of respondents said they disapprove. A majority of those surveyed (51 percent) also said they believe he presented the situation as it really is.
This is bad news for the Democrats who did everything that they could to dis-credit this man. They called him a liar and a mouthpiece for the Bush administration. The American people saw this attack on a man who deserves nothing but respect, and they saw the look on his face as he stared silently and unflinchingly at those who tried destroy his character, and they have responded. Americans want leadership, and they have found it in General Petraeus. Yes, the Democrats strategy was to embarrass the good general, but the only managed to embarrass themselves. They managed to show the American people their true colors, and those colors are yellow.
