Scott Hartnell's Motto: If All Else Fails, Throw Your Glove

Scott Hartnell #19 of the Philadelphia Flyers leaves the ice after getting penalized for throwing his glove at the puck in his game against the Tampa Bay Lightning on December 2, 2008 at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Ryan Malone was awarded a penalty shot for the infraction, but did not score. The Flyers defeated the Lightning 4-3 in overtime. (Getty Images)more pics »Philadelphia's left wing Scott Hartnell must of thought he was a genius when he decided to throw his glove to stop a breakaway in Tuesday night's game against Tampa Bay. Honestly, what better way to stop a potential goal then by throwing your glove at the puck?
Well Hartnell, you get points for trying but earn a massive FAIL for your horrible split second thinking. His sad attempt at blocking a shot with 16 seconds remaining in a game tied at 3-3, resulted in a penalty shot for Tampa Bay's Ryan Malone.
Luckily, Flyers goalie Marty Biron knows the correct way to stop a puck. He stopped Malone's shot, the game continued into overtime and the Flyers ended up winning 4-3, despite Hartnell's mistake.
