The Joe Blanton Philadelphia Phillies era begins tonight against Johan Santana and the Mets. What a lucky guy to draw Darth Santana and our biggest rival at Shea Stadium for his first Phils start. We're all hoping for the best but expecting the worst...let the force be with you Young Fattione. The series shakes down like this: Joe Blanton (5-12, 4.96 era, 1.42 whip) vs. Johan Santana (8-7, 3.10, 1.22) tonight at 7:10. Then tomorrow night on ESPN, which means a loss because it's nationally... Read Full Story
Since the Joe Blanton post has trickled over in to speculation about the rumored (and apparently dead) blockbuster deal between the Phillies and the Rockies, I figured I start a new post to get people’s opinion about the deal.

Back from my vacation to discuss the Phillies news of the past week a bit browner, heavier, and tired. First on the agenda... 1. All-Star Game: I am about to employ the WSBGM's brigade to start a public smear campaign against that retard Clint Hurdle. What's that, another Cub (8 total) you ask?! Then he goes out of his... Read Full Story
The Phils begin the 2nd half of their season by playing their divisional foes. They go on the road to play Florida and New York. They come home for a weekend series with the Braves and then head down to DC for a mid-week series with the Nats. Now is a good time to think back about what happened in the first half of the season and a couple of predictions on what it is to come. 1st half MVP: The Phillies bullpen. Possibly a bit of a cop out from selecting a single, individual Phillie to... Read Full Story
Last year, at this point in the season, the Phillies were 48-48. This year, they are 52-44 and sitting in first place. So why is it that I, and many other Phillies fans, feel almost the same as we did at this point last year? There might be a four-game difference, but this team is still inconsistent, occasionally maddening and not entirely playing up to its potential. At its current pace, the Phils are on course to win, you guessed it, 88 games. If you are keeping track at home, the last 7... Read Full Story
