Triple jumper Phillips Idowu capped a tough season by sealing Britain’s second gold medal of the European Athletics Championships with a personal best jump of 17.81m.
The Hackney-born jumper saw off tough competition from Romania’s Marian Oprea and France’s Teddy Tamgho.
Oprea eventually claimed silver but Idowu produced some of the best jumps of his career to add to his already impressive repertoire.
