Phoebe Philo is a British fashion designer and the creative director of Celine. She graduated from Central Saint Martins a year after Stella McCartney, who was then working for Chloé. Philo started her professional career at Chloé as McCartney's design assistant. In 2001, she took on McCartney's role as creative director, but resigned in 2006.
Phoebe Philo has yet again made a come back with even more directness and focus at Celine . With a group of fast-marching models in military details and lots of leather dresses, sight was lavish. The mood set by the collection was purposeful and positive.
Phoebe Philo has always designed clothes that reflect fashion as it’s really lived, rather than anything arty or conceptual. It was a great fashion feast for the eyes with whipcord-trimmed skirts, fine leather tees, piqué shirting over... Read Full Story
It was the moment the fashion world has been waiting for, the return of wildly popular designer Phoebe Philo, whose calm and collected debut spring-summer 2010 collection for Celine proved that after her several-year-long hiatus she still has the magic touch. Philo's clean-lined basics, like A-line skirts and sheath dresses, garnered thunderous applause from the show's audience of fashion insiders for whom jaded is the normal etat d'esprit. It was a good day for women looking for fashion... Read Full Story
Phoebe Philo was welcomed back like a prodigal daughter on Monday when she unveiled her debut collection for the luxury label Celine in a packed venue near the Ritz in Paris. The British designer who took the fashion world by surprise when she resigned the top job at Chloe to devote herself to motherhood, does not seem to have lost the sure touch which earned her plaudits there. For next spring-summer she presented clean and unfussy lines using lots of glove-smooth leather in black, ochre... Read Full Story

So tough, yet so absolutely chic! These contrasting elements certainly create the chemical sparks for [...] Read the rest of this entry » Read Full Story

Phoebe Philo, former creative director at Chloe, has designed her first collection for Céline, and it has finally hit stores to the tune of success. Fashionistas everywhere couldn't wait to snag a piece of the RTW that gallivanted down the runway last September during Fashion Week. Dover Street Market in London was first to grasp the pre-collection in their retail clutches. We personally can't wait to get our hands on the utilitarian, menswear-inspired fabrications either!
Can't get enough... Read Full Story
>> Phoebe Philo showed her first collection since 2005 - and her first collection for Celine - today at a loft space in Chelsea. Style.com deemed the outing - which is full of Philo’s muted, miltary color-filled palette and simple effective shapes - “confident” and “spot-on.”
Phoebe, for her part, explained of the Cruise 2010 collection: “It’s not about total looks. After my break, and with Celine in various different hands these last years, it felt better for me to work on an idea of... Read Full Story

Celine, spring 2010. Yesterday Phoebe Philo presented her first major collection for Celine . And to say the critics could hardly stand it would be an understatement. They're probably still smoking off the fashion orgasm that resulted from her clean, modern sportswear. Celine has had four designers since 1997, and Philo has been off the fashion scene to spend time with her family for the past four years (she last designed for Chloé ). Cathy Horyn writes that the runway photos don't do the... Read Full Story
