I think it's rather odd. I'm not really an outdoor summer kind of person, because hard as I try, I can't seem to keep my hair from sweating and my makeup from running.  It's not pretty.  But spring and fall seem to work for me. Minnehaha Falls It's not really the falls that draws me there, although I like looking at it and I think it's beautiful.  But I think I love it there because I get the best of a few different worlds.  I get nature, I get architecture and history, and I get fed. Lunch at The Grinder in Granite Falls, Minnesota When I returned to work Monday morning, my co-workers asked me if I had a nice visit at Granite Falls in southwestern Minnesota.  Ohhhhhhhhhhh yes!  We got a late start Saturday morning after lazing around watching the movie Beautiful Girls , which happens to have been filmed in Minnesota and Wisconsin.  Cindy kept saying it was filmed in the midwest because people in the movie were wearing Wisconsin sweatshirts, but I didn't believe her. I completely missed it.  When the credits rolled around, there it was.  Thanks to the Minnesota Film Board. Good eye, Cindy! We ate lunch ... Read Full Story

When I was little, my dad used to pack us kids into the old green station wagon (a vehicle which often chased me in my nightmares) and we'd head to Redwood Falls , Minnesota for a drive through Alexander Ramsey Park.   It was a reprieve from the wide-open prairies and the drudgery of the bean fields we kids got to know so intimately.  Ugh.  I shouldn't say that.  I can remember when we needed to purchase some major item for the farm, instead of going to the bank, dad would say, "I'd better sell some beans." But, I digress.  Alexander Ramsey Park is ... Read Full Story

Kasey and Jayvyn invited me to visit the MN Harvest Apple Orchard near Jordan in southeastern Minnesota for my birthday a couple of months ago.  Well, heck yeah I went. I believe in feeding the spirit.  I'm not sophisticated enough to meditate or digest self-help books, but I am able to raise my vibration to a whole new level by just plain being in the presence of nature.  Of course, I haven't always appreciated being in the midst of nature.  Back when I was a kid, nature meant walking miles of fields with the sun beating down while we picked up rocks, or pulled stubborn weeds, ... Curtain From a Former Vaudeville Theater Located in Wit's End Antique Shop on the Main Street of Henderson, Minnesota. When six-year-old Jojo and I headed out to see Melanie and Crabby Dave on New Year's Day, I had no idea we would be returning with a splendid gift from Dave.  When I told him I was looking for a piece of music to provide the soundtrack for a video I was producing about Henderson, Minnesota, I couldn't imagine I would be bringing one home with me. Photo by Jojo He also presented Jojo with the gift of his very own guitar pick.  Jojo had ... Read Full Story
