By Steve Campbell October 14, 2009, 9:07PM Eric Schultz / The Huntsville Times Phyllis Schlafly HUNTSVILLE, AL — The woman who said “Stop the ERA” hopes to stop Democrats in 2010 — including two Democratic Congressmen in Alabama. Phyllis Schlafly, widely credited for defeating the Equal Rights Amendment in the early 1980s, was in Huntsville on Wednesday to push for a GOP takeover of Congress. “I hope it’s going to be like 1994, when we had the biggest Republican victory of our time,” she said. Schlafly spoke at The Ledges before ... Read Full Story

If you'd like to induce a sense of nausea with your holiday gifts this year, head on over to the Clare Booth Luce Policy Institute, where you can pre-order a pin-up calendar featuring some of your favorite female anti-gay politicos . The calendar is the perfect gift for that brother-in-law who thinks, like Rep. Michele Bachmann (Miss November) does, that students will have to recite their commitment to gay marriage instead of the Pledge of Allegiance if the gays have their way. The Clare Booth Luce Policy Institute is a think tank geared toward conservatives. But instead of showing the breadth and depth of ... Read Full Story

Stuffy Conservatives do let the Hair down once in a while From Eric Dondero: Even the furthest reaches of the Conservative Right are starting to show a bit of a libertarian streak. Goes along with the old joke heard at YR, and other GOP events; "Every conservative gets more libertarian as the night goes on, and the booze gets poured..." From our Conservative Cousins comes the Annual "Hot Conservative Women" Pin-Up Calendar. It's the work of the ultimate "stuffy conservative" Phyllis Schlafly and Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute. You'll no doubt recognize some familiar faces: Ann Coulter, Michele Bachmann, Bay Buchanan, Starr Parker, Michelle ... Read Full Story

That grand doyenne of social conservatism, Phyllis Schlafly, still thinks that we gay folks ( including, presumably, her own gay son ) are attacking marriage. But you'll be glad to learn that, according to Phyl-Schlaf, we 'mos aren't attacking nearly as hard as those pesky feminists. Although at the end of the day, the exact breakdown doesn't really matter to some (most?) of her audience, since all progressives form an umbrella organization known as "evil." This nuttiness comes from this past weekend's so-called "How to Take Back America Conference" : Phyllis Schlafly speaks at "How to take back America" event [YT] The "breast plate ... Read Full Story

“I submit to you that the feminist movement is the most dangerous, destructive force in our society today . . . My analysis is that the gays are about five percent of the attack on marriage in this country, and the feminists are about 95 percent.” - Conservative political activist Phyllis Schafly, best known for her opposition to the Equal Rights Amendment in the ’70s, at the conservative “How to Take Back America” conference this weekend. Phyllis Schlafly’s Eagle Forum has endorsed Vicky Hartzler in the GOP's 4th Congressional District primary.  In her endorsement, Schlafly pointed to Hartzler's "Missouri values" and "proven record of protecting families from job-destroying tax increases."
