Placido Polanco is an infielder in major league baseball. He's a second baseman for the Detroit Tigers and wears number 14. He is managed by Jim Leyland.

Leyland Says Settle Down

Even though it appears the Detroit Tigers have the most terrifying batting order in all of baseball, led by a downright dirty starting rotation and shining bullpen, manager Jim Leyland doesn't want to hear any boastful prophecies.

With seven All-Stars in their lineup, including newcomer Miguel Cabrera, the threat is pretty much non-stop from top to bottom. Let's also not forget to mention one of the handiest closers in the game, Todd Jones, who pulls the caboose of the relief corps, which is missing only Joel Zumaya, who is out until midseason with a shoulder injury.

However, the skipper wants everyone to simmer down and not buy into the media-driven crap-talking game. In fact, he pointed in the direction of the reigning World Series Champion Boston Red Sox and division rival Cleveland Indians as the teams to beat this season.

Edgar Renteria spoke sooner though, referring to the Tigers as a "dream team." Placido Polanco, on the other hand, had a little more down to earth approach to the club's potential dominance.
"Sure, we have talent," he said. "But we can’t take anything for granted. We need to take every workout seriously and every opponent seriously."
