Breast Augmentation,Breast Implants,Breast Enlargement at Bare Aesthetics Cosmetic Surgery Clinics Sydney

Breast Augmentation,Breast Implants,Breast Enlargement Sydney & Port Macquarie:

Is there a difference all three terms are used interchangeably in Sydney by female patients looking to Augment or change their breast shape and size.

At Bare Aesthetics Cosmetic Surgery Clinics we have noticed that there is a difference in the use of the terms by patients and it is therefore imperative that we understand what individual patients are looking for when requesting Mammaplasty Augmentation surgery.

Typically most women seeking to have Breast enhancement or augmentation surgery are doing so because they have small underdeveloped breasts to begin with, or unequal breast volumes and shape, underlying abnormalities resulting in abnormal shape of the breasts,or simply they have lost volume and shape ("Drooping breasts") following child birth.

For each of these circumstances the term Breast Augmentation,Breast Implants & Breast Enlargement would apply.

Women are looking to have their Breasts Augmented with Implants which in most cases will cause their breasts to be enlarged from their native breast tissue.

Breast Augmentation in Sydney is a personal decision of all women, it should never be made based on images of breast augmentations performed upon other women, perceptions that it will change their life or as a recommendation by others or partners.

Breast Implants will enlarge and augment their breast shape and size only and for these women may help improve their self image, confidence and self esteem.

Incision Placement:

There are several sites for placement of the incision used in breast implant placement.

The most common placement is in the Inframammary fold (Crease under the breast).

Alternative placements of the incision for Breast Augmentation can be in the Axillary fold (Armpit), Periareolar (Around the Nipple) and Transumbilical(Through the belly button).

The decision for the site of the incision once again is a personal decision for some women when they consider potential for scarring and the visibility of the postoperative incision scar.

However, patients need to fully discuss with their Cosmetic Surgeon the placement of the incision and how it will relate to success of their Breast Augmentation and Enlargement experience and results.

Saline or Silicone Breast Implants:

There are two types of breast implant fill substances, Saline or Silicone.

Saline has been used successfully in breast augmentation, however, the feel of the breast is not as natural as with a Silicone based implant. Many patients suggest that it feels like "a bag of fluid".

Other problems with saline breast implants are that they have a tendency to rupture and or leak with more frequent implant failure. Also problems of more obvious rippling, visibility and fold of the implant shell are seen with saline implants.

There advantage is that the Saline Breast Implant can be adjusted at the time of the breast augmentation operation.

Silicone implants are more natural to look at and feel. The newer generation of Silicone breast implants have better form holding silicone gel and are very unlikely to leak with implant rupture.

The Silicone implants are made in many sizes, textures and as round, teardrop and cone shaped implants.

Silicone breast implants have been demonstrated to be safe in a large meta analysis study performed at the Mayo clinic in the USA.

Not surprisingly  Breast Augmentation in Sydney at the Bare Aesthetic Cosmetic Surgery Clinic most patients prefer Silicone breast implants.

Where is the Breast Implant placed?:

The breast implant can be placed in the following sites when performing breast augmentation, breast enlargement surgery.

Placement maybe; Subglandular(Under the native breast tissue)or

Submuscular (Under the Muscles of the chest).

Submuscular can be partial or total.

The decision of where to place the Breast implant is an important one and is a decision the cosmetic surgeon makes based on various factors such as the skin quality, native breast tissue volume, shape & size of the breasts and the anatomy of the chest wall.

There are potentially many other factors which need to be identified and discussed with the Cosmetic Surgeon.

Complications of Breast Augmentation,Breast Implants:

These include: Bleeding,Haematomas,infection,Capsular contracture,scarring,

implant show, rippling, double bubble & fold, desensitization of the breasts and or nipple, seromas and wound breakdown.

The causes and risk of complications needs to be understood and discussed by all patients when considering breast augmentation.
