CRATER LAKE, Ore. -- Thanks to Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley, the National Park Service may have the power to ban helicopter flights over Crater Lake.
The two U.S. Democratic Senators for Oregon inserted a provision into a federal aviation administration bill that Congress passed this week. An aviation company out of Bend applied to give helicopter tours over the park in 2009.
