Barack's "Bitter" Banter Begets Battle

Up until last week, every punch the Clintons and media have launched at Barack Obama, have bounced off the man. Again, that was until last week. Now a simple off-the-cuff statement by Obama at a closed-door fundraiser, has gained mileage and impact, with the Clintons and Old Man McCain accusing the African-American candidate of being an “Elitist.”

Do people really understand how ludicrous that claim really is? Is anyone really buying that crap?

The controversy began over a week ago, when Obama said that people were “bitter” about lost jobs and “cling to guns or religion.” He said a lot more than that, but that is the sound bite that Hillary Clinton’s campaign seized on and ran with, causing the current round of mudslinging.

McCain said, “Hope in America is not based on delusion, but in the faith that everything is possible in America.” McCain added, “I think the comments are elitist. … I can only look at his remarks and I have seen them now several times and say that those are certainly not the vision that I have of America and its strength and its greatness and what its fundamentals values and beliefs are.”

Obama responded to both Hillary and McCain calling him an elitist, by saying, “When I hear my opponents both of whom have spent decades in Washington saying I’m out of touch, it is time to cut through the rhetoric and look at the reality.”

Barack Obama, as his supporters well know, is as ‘common man’ as any politician has been since Jimmy Carter (he was a peanut farmer) ran for president. Barack recently paid off his student loans. When was the last time you heard a politician boast about that? Never, and do you know why? Because most of them don’t have to take out student loans - they’re rich!

Obama is from a multi-racial background and was raised by a single mother. He has spent his adult life working to improve Chicago’s tough south-side streets. An elitist? Only an idiot would buy into that standard political play-book bullshit.

I think Michelle Obama said it best:

To add insult to injury, I was appalled to hear Mitt Romney, of all people, comment on the issue of cultural elitism. What a moron! This multi-millionaire corporate raider, dares to convince average Americans that he is an honest person who is in touch with the common people. What a joke.
