Katrina Foley Opposes Any Increase to Air Traffic at John Wayne Airport

Costa Mesa City Council member Katrina Foley stands strong as she voices her opposition to any increase in air traffic at John Wayne Airport.

John Wayne Airport (JWA) is a medium hub airport, serving nearly 10 Million Annual Passengers (MAP) and approximately 600 General Aviation (GA) aircraft ranging from vintage biplanes and helicopters to corporate jets. JWA is the primary provider of general aviation services and facilities in the County of Orange, and is also home to local law enforcement and medical/mercy flights. JWA is the place through which millions travel each year to their homes, their families, their vacations, and their businesses. But the residents that live near and around this airport do not want to see any additional expansion to air traffic at JWA. Costa Mesa City Council member Katrina Foley stands strong in her opposition of air traffic expansion.

"Our residents cannot handle any more planes flying over their neighborhoods," stated Foley at a recent political debate.

Costa Mesa and Newport Beach are participating in the the OCTAL Go Local transportation design grant program to develop a joint transportation program to transport people to outlying airports.

Foley realizes that it is not easy to find solutions to serve the needs of an excess of 11 Million people, she knows it is necessary for all local political leaders to work together.

As a City Council member for Costa Mesa, Foley has been, and will continue, working with the local organization called "AirFair" to help find solutions. Foley is urging local citizens to learn more about about AirFair and become part of the solution. For more info on AirFair, go to www.jwairfair.com.
