Pontiac | sedan | industry news | Pontiac G6 | Cars | Car News One kicked things off with a bang; the other faded into obscurity with barely a whimper. A few weeks after Kia celebrated its first-ever US-built vehicle , Pontiac rolled off its last US-built vehicle – a white G6 sedan – in its assembly plant in Lake Orion, Michigan. And no, there weren’t any screams of delight or champagne bottles opening, but rather a simple and... Read Full Story

Pontiac | USA | industry news | Cars | Car News Pontiac will shut down as soon as the calendar turns to 2010 so if you’re the sentimental type and would hate to see Pontiac ride off into the sunset, now’s the time to buy your own Pontiac before stocks run out. According to Pontiac’s Twitter page, the car brand has a little over 3,600 units left in the US with the Pontiac G8 GXP having the most limited of supplies with only 16... Read Full Story
The G8 is dead. Long live the G8. What was certainly Pontiac's best car in recent times - a car which was certainly one of Pontiac's best ever - was extinguished before it was even able to get its groove on. See, the Pontiac G8 was released to the masses here in North America just as the price of fuel was skyrocketing heavenward. Pontiac dealers struggled to sell the G8 despite the car's clean design, roomy cabin, and excellent dynamics. Fast forward to General Motors' bankruptcy and it... Read Full Story
It turns out that Twitter is useful for something besides exposing idiotic celebrities and disseminating information about a potential revolution in progress. There’s a practical consumer use for the 140 character or less social blogging site too. Pontiac used twitter to let everyone know its nationwide inventory was almost gone on Wednesday, according to Jalopnik .
Pontiac only has about 3,600 cars left at dealerships across the nation, according to the Tweet. The good news is that since... Read Full Story

All this week we’ve been lamenting the demise of Pontiac, mostly the Solstice and G8, which GM has no plans to bring over to one of its other brands. The Solstice has lead a long life, and it’s due for a refresh before 2010 anyway, so we’re not too upset about that. What really chokes us up is the loss of the G8. We love the idea of a 400 hp, rear drive V8 that can bring four friends along for the ride. It’s sad that one of the best cars made by GM right now will be a victim of GM’s... Read Full Story

During a web chat on the firm's official blog, GM CEO Fritz Henderson was asked by a online reader whether or not the Pontiac G8 GXP would live on as a rebadged Chevrolet or maybe even as an entry-level Cadillac. Henderson's answer was a clear-cut 'No'. Too bad that no one asked Henderson if that goes for the entire G8... Read Full Story
