Pope Benedict XVI plans to visit the shrine of Our Lady of Fatima next May, Portuguese bishops announced. The pope will preside over ceremonies May 13, 2010 the date of the first apparition of St. Mary to three shepherd children in 1917. No other details of the papal program were immediately available, according to Vatican Radio. As a cardinal, Pope Benedict led an international pilgrimage to Fatima in 1996. A German priest who has admitted that he molested boys while working at a boarding-school in the 1970s has been removed from office by Pope Benedict XVI. The priest was removed from office after 16 men came forward to say that they had been forced to engage in sexual acts as boys while attending a boarding school near Bad Neustadt an der Saale, which is about 110 kilometers east of Frankfurt.
