Pope Benedict Tells Australians He Likes Unity And Hot Cars, Probably Doesn't Like Guanabee

Pope Benedict XVI is currently in Australia, annoying tiny koalas and calling for all Christian churches to present a united front in order to draw more people to the faith:

"As fellow citizens of the household of God, Christians must work together to ensure that the edifice stands strong so that others will be attracted to enter and discover the abundant treasures of grace," Pope Benedict said.

What Christians need, then, are uniforms and a theme song. And perhaps less sexual abuse scandals, homophobia, xenophobia and misogyny. But mostly uniforms. Oh, also, the Pope does not seem to be a huge fan of blogs, as he made very clear to a crowd of thousands:

About 150,000 pilgrims gathered at Barangaroo on Sydney Harbour last night to hear Pope Benedict XVI speak of how the community had been scarred by the worship of violence.

Sydney is gearing up for another big day today with tens of thousands of pilgrims expected around the CBD to watch the Stations of the Cross, where actors recreate the biblical account of Jesus Christ's last days.

He will also have lunch with 12 hand-picked pilgrims, including bashing victim Lauren Huxley.

Last night the crowd listened in silence as the Pope said the use of sex and violence in entertainment was dangerous, The Daily Telegraph reports.

"I ask myself, could anyone standing face to face with people who actually do suffer violence and sexual exploitation 'explain' that these tragedies, portrayed in virtual form, are considered merely 'entertainment'?'' he said.
