Porsche SE or Porsche is a German manufacturer of luxury automobiles, which is majority-owned by the Porsche and Piëch families. Porsche SE holds two chief assets, the first of which is Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG (which stands for Doktor Ingenieur honoris causa Ferdinand Porsche Aktiengesellschaft), often shortened to Porsche AG, manufacturer of the Porsche automobile line. The second asset is a majority stake in Volkswagen AG. The company is headquartered in Zuffenhausen, a city district of Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg.
It was founded in 1930 by Ferdinand Porsche, an Austro-Hungarian engineer born in Maffersdorf, Austria-Hungary (today Vratislavice, Czech Republic). Porsche is also known for designing the first Volkswagen, but Béla Barényi is credited with having conceived the basic design five years earlier. The company currently produces 911 (997), Boxster and Cayman sports cars and Cayenne sport utility vehicles. The company plans to launch its new four-door Panamera towards the middle of 2009.
The Porsche 911 is the winner of the prestigious Autobild TÜV-Report 2010. The classic sports car by Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, achieved first place for quality and reliability in both the two to three-year old vehicles category and the six to seven-year old vehicles category. Read Full Story
I've driven a used Porsche Cayenne S for a few years, during which I've enjoyed trouble-free, exciting motoring. My motivation for buying the Cayenne was a growing family and also my job, which takes me around the countryside doling out agricultural advice. I owned a Porsche Boxster for a while so I knew I'd be happy and in familiar hands with the Cayenne. I'll admit I wasn't entirely convinced by the off-road claims but that's the great benefit of buying used - you gain from the experiences... Read Full Story

The Porsche Panamera - zero to 10,000 in three months... The four-door Panamera sedan could be one of Porsche’s most successful cars ever, with 10,000 units having been sold since the car’s global launch three months ago. The 10,000th Panamera, which recently rolled off the production line at Porsche’s Leipzig plant, is due to be delivered to a customer in Singapore. The 4S is the most popular model in the Panamera range, accounting for 44% of sales, while the Panamera Turbo and Panamera S... Read Full Story
Sure 10,000 units doesn't sound like much, but we're talking about a near ultra-luxury sedan here, not a Toyota Corolla. After only being on the market for three months, 100,000 units of the Porsche Panamera have already been produced, a rate which is considered large by the standards of its segment. Porsche has already received 9,000 orders for the four-door Panamera since its launch. The automaker is planning on producing 20,000 units per year. The 10,000th Panamera was a platinum silver... Last week, Volkswagen shareholders overwhelmingly approved a capital increase aimed at financing the purchase. The vote will allow Volkswagen to raise about 8.0 billion euros by 2014. Europe's biggest auto maker plans to complete the takeover of Porsche by 2011 and wants to eclipse Toyota, the world auto leader, by 2018... Read Full Story
