A community portal about Postmodernism with blogs, videos, and photos. According to Wikipedia.org: Postmodernism is an idea that has been extremely controversial and difficult to define among scholars, intellectuals, and historians, because the term implies to many that the modern historical period has passed. Nevertheless, most agree that postmodern ideas have influenced philosophy, art, critical theory, literature, architecture, design, marketing/business, interpretation of history, and culture since the late 20th century.

What is postmodernism? Are the postmodern characteristics still apparent in contemporary architectural design? According to scholars, “Postmodernism, by definition resists definition”. If postmodernism is then difficult to be defined, on what principles can one judge if postmodernism in architecture is in still emerging? Postmodernism in its regional/vernacular forms reflects neighborhood culture. Some argue that postmodernism is a reaction to the forces of “creative destruction.” But it can be a tool for those powers as well. Just recently, I’ve had a bit of time to hang around at home , which brings with it the inevitable horrors of daytime TV. 70s actors and singers iterviewing 70s actors and singers (and Gary Wilmot ) for the most part. But a curious realization has dawned on me of late. Diagnosis Murder is a post-modern masterpiece on a par with Amarcord. I only noticed this because today, Quincy turned up. Ok cool, so we’ve got the expanded universe blurring the l ine between fictional realities , but what was cool was the fact that they changed the whole show so it revolved around ... Read Full Story

But how many of them can you see a day ? I heard they have one major flaw, living in them require an exhibitionist owner or a constant living behind the curtain which kind of kill the fun of living in a glass apartment full of light and view... Well it seems Bernard Tschumi got a better idea and figured there is no need to go "all the way" and designed this ... Read Full Story

The Education Life supplement of last Sunday’s New York Times contained a little blurb that claimed college students who majored in the humanities and social sciences were apt to become less religiously observant after college. According to the Times, you may credit or blame postmodernism because it stresses that truth is relative rather than absolute. Small solace, as far as I am concerned....
