In July of last year, LegitScript and spam fighter KnujOn sent out letters to eight US-based registrars requesting that they terminate or suspend websites they were sponsoring that offered to sell steroids, a Schedule III controlled substance, without a prescription, from overseas (both illegal and dangerous). Eventually, six of the eight registrars terminated all of the sites. The sole exceptions were Parava Networks , supposedly in Texas, and eNom. We’ve finally arrived at the last LegitScript standard for safe online pharmacies . Our eleventh standard is sort of a catch-all that says any pharmacy website up for LegitScript approval cannot be affiliated with other websites that do not meet LegitScript standards. The International Narcotics Control Board , the independent, quasi-judicial control organization that monitors the implementation of the United Nations drug control agreements, released their annual report last week. Pharma2U.com has been exposed as selling counterfeit drugs by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency ( MHRA ) from the United Kingdom. LegitScript has already designated the website as a “rogue” Internet pharmacy in late 2008. The BBC news article reported that: The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency ( MHRA ) said a couple in their 60s were being questioned. It said the drugs were the “tip of the iceberg” of an expected multi-million-pound illegal online medicine business. Sometimes we receive threatening emails from Internet drug dealers. Just yesterday, the apparent registrant of www.thaisteroids.com , a website that offers steroids to US residents, emailed us regarding our LegitScript entry for www.thaisteroids.com , as a rogue Internet pharmacy. “Greg” from www.thaisteroids.com writes: You leave our company no choice but to seek legal action.
