Zimbabwe Opposition And Ruling Leaders Meet

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa - Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe is meeting with opposition leader Morgan Tsvangira concering power sharing in the African nation. Talks begin today in the Johannesburg, South Africa's capital. The talks are being held in a secret location. It's the first meeting for the two men in ten years.

In the last three months, political violence in Zimbabwe has been unrelenting. The two leaders promised that the violence will be curtailed.

Tsvangira told his countrymen that a new agreement could help.

"It offers the most tangible opportunity in the past 10 years to improve the lives of our fellow citizens," he said.

The European Union is also considering increasing the pressure on Mugabe's government by pushing harder economic sanctions.

Robert Mugabe has managed to remain in power in Zimbabwe for 28 years.
