New Match-Fixing Investigation Implies Albanian Soccer Federation Is The Mafia. Damn.

That's it. We've had it. One more match-fixing scandal investigation and we'll turn this into a blog about Telenovelas. Well, oh oh alright. What the hell. One more. Uefa reps are looking into possible match-fixing within their prestigious Euro 2008 tourney. Albania are the latest scandalous soccer team to be scrutinized for sucking. They lost 4-2 to Belarus and then 6-1 to Romania. Pummeled by gypsies isn't ordinary?

Albania's national team has been branded a 'mafia group' by Prime Minister Sali Berisha while the country's culture minister accused the President of the National Football Federation of "selling" two Euro 2008 qualifiers. In a letter addressed to UEFA last month, Culture Minister Ylli Pango called upon the sport's governing body to investigate "clear suspicions that both matches might have been sold by the President of our National Football Federation".

Let them have a little fun. It's not like they were going to advance. Albanian players weren't too thrilled about the investigation, but the federal secretary of Albania's soccer organiztion wasn't scared.

Meanwhile, Arben Bici, the federation's secretary, said they welcomed the investigation, and asked the government to supply any evidence of match-fixing.
