We all have characteristics of personality disorders. It is the extremes that cause the personality characteristics to be a pathological problem. I have characteristics of Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder from the DSM-IV aka Anankastic Personality Disorder ICD-10, but not enough for a diagnosis. The one adjective I hear repeatedly connected to pathology is the word 'evil.' Spiritual, unspiritual, heathens, pagans, Christians, Jews, Buddhists, etc. -- it doesn't matter. A part of how people convince themselves to stay in the pathological love relationship is that they think they are making 'progress' by managing the pathological's behavior.
