The Purdue Boilermakers got bad news this week as sophomore point guard Lewis Jackson underwent foot surgery. Jackson started 30 games at the point for Purdue in 2008-09, averaging 5.9 ppg and leading the Old Gold and Black in assists. Indiana will try to finish the 2009 season on a high note Saturday at Memorial Stadium as they host Purdue in the battle for the Old Oaken Bucket. Peegs.com caught up with Brian Neubert from GoldandBlack.com to get the latest on the Boilermakers  

Purdue 38, Michigan 36 — For the first time in 43 years, Purdue walked out of Michigan Stadium with a victory. The Boilermakers (4-6, 3-3) defeated U-M 38-36 after stopping a U-M two-point conversion attempt with just more than two minutes left.  

Michigan State played in the Final Four 92 miles from campus at Detroit's Ford Field last season. The Boilermakers want to make some home-state history this season with a berth in the Final Four 70 miles away at Indianapolis' Lucas Oil Stadium.  

The high-scoring Tennessee Volunteers prepare for their toughest test to date, as the 10th-ranked team in the nation clashes with the seventh-ranked Purdue Boilermakers in the title game of the Paradise Jam tonight in St. Thomas.

Talk of a bowl game for Purdue still sounds fairly premature. But there's no question that the Boilermakers are in a better position from all perspectives -- not just in terms of postseason possibilities -- at 3-5 than they were at 1-5.  

With 3,012 fans filling Rec Hall, the top-ranked Nittany Lion women's volleyball team secured a 3-0 (25-13, 25-15, 25-12) sweep of Big Ten foe Purdue (11-10, 3-7). Penn State (22-0, 10-0) improves to 41-5 all-time against the Boilermakers.  

1. Don't believe the hype. There's obviously a lot of buzz surrounding the team this season. The Boilermakers seem to have the personalities and maturity not to be overly affected, but there always is some danger in such a situation.
