I never understand why record companies shelve album. I cannot cost that much to press CD’s and transport them to stores (certainly nowhere near the $18 retail price) and now it costs basically nothing to upload to iTunes and the like. But we have to wait eight years to (legally) hear the lost Q-Tip album, Kamaal the Abstract because his A&R man said, “I don’t hear a single.” So into the great wide open of the ether the album went until Q-Tip finally regained control of the rights to finally put out. If you are a true A Tribe Called Quest fan then you need to cop Q-Tip's new album "Renaissance" ASAP!!!  This is the album we have been waiting for from Q-Tip ever since ATCQ split up years ago.  We got a solo album from him back in 1998 in the form of "Amplified" and although I thought it was a cool album with the hit singles "Vivrant Thing" and "Breathe and Stop", it just wasn't what people expected or wanted from him.  He got a little caught up in the uptempo sounds of the time which was all about selling records and shaking asses ...       Furious rapper Q-TIP has challenged a cop accused of beating a teenage girl to a charity boxing match.   The former ‘A Tribe Called Quest’ star is enraged by the apparent actions of King County Sheriff’s Deputy Paul Schene, who has been charged with misdemeanor assault.   Schene is said to have punched handcuffed suspect Malika Calhoun, 16, following her arrest in November (08) after she was found in her friend’s parents’ car, which had been reported stolen.   Q-Tip is unnerved by the assault and is serious about slugging it out with Schene.   In a post on his Twitter.com ... When Q-Tip calls his album The Renaissance you cannot help but get excited. It has almost been a decade since his first solo outing and over a decade since his seminal rap group A Tribe Called Quest last recorded together. In the interim rap has gone from a cultural movement to a corporate medium that now hawks soda drinks and feminine products. Tip’s hiatus wasn’t self imposed those as he bounced from five record labels in six years with a couple albums that have yet to see the light of day (asides from some advance copied). Old School Tribe fans should be pleased that ... Read Full Story

While I was standing around like an asshole for 2 hours waiting for a table at Delicatessen in SoHo (who actually makes a reservation at a spot like that.
