Andy Reid, towel in hand, was still dripping wet at his post-game press conference after Mike McGlynn dumped a Gatorade cooler on him.
New Meadowlands Stadium had emptied out. No fans in seats, nobody on the field. The Eagles locker room was mostly empty, with a few players lingering and team employees packing up equipment. The only physical evidence left from what had transpired was the ice scattered across the floor, the Gatorade soaking into the...Read Full Story
Heading into Training Camp, one of my biggest concerns for the team is the secondary. They traded away Sheldon Brown which opened up a big hole at the cornerback position. There will be a number of players trying to fill that hole, but I can’t see any standouts right now.
Also, the Eagles continue trying to fill the hole that Brian Dawkins left after leaving the team. Dawkins’ importance became more apparent then ever last season as three different players failed to play at a high enough...Read Full Story
Quintin Mikell is hoping for a national title for his Boise State Broncos.
Tonight as Boise State takes on Fresno State, Quintin Mikell will be watching. His alma mater has a chance at a national championship, sitting fourth in the BCS rankings. Boise State seems primed to leapfrog #3 TCU if either #1 Oregon or #2 Auburn drop a game. Mikell is optimistic and believes the Broncos are deserving of a chance at a national title.
“I think so,” Mikell said. “It’s going to be, in my opinion...Read Full Story
In Adam Caplan's NFC East offseason breakdown , he makes an interesting statement regarding Philadelphia Eagles soon-to-be free agent strong safety Quintin Mikell:
"(Mikell is) one of the team's most respected leaders, but there's much less than a 50-50 chance he returns."
What exactly does "much less than a 50-50 chance" mean? That would probably imply Caplan gives Mikell's chances at returning in 2011 somewhere between a 25-30 percent chance.
I would love for him to expand on this...Read Full Story
Just hours after hearing that the Philadelphia Eagles will not resign a single one of their free agents, it was reported that the St. Louis Rams have signed strong safety Quintin Mikell to a four-year deal. Mikell, 31, had been the longest tenured Eagles player (tied with center Jamaal Jackson). He joined the team in [...] View and VoteRead Full Story
No matter the angle you look from, there seems to be a constant stream of electricity surrounding Philadelphia Eagles' wide receiver DeSean Jackson. In 2011, most of the electricity was used to spurn the talk of his impending free agency this offseason.
Although DeSean Jackson is expected to receive the franchise tag, the Philadelphia Eagles are also back-up planning to avoid finding themselves with a depleted receiving corps. There is a decent group of wide receivers that runs out of contract, however it ...
While everyone is curious to see if DeSean Jackson will be an Eagle next year, there is also significant interest for another player whose status is obscure. Asante Samuel and his 2011 season dwelled in mediocrity, much like the Eagles did. With the team failing to get into the playoffs, almost every player went under fire. Samuel was always one of the standout players of the defense and that made his season look even more like Waterloo. His...
The 2011 Philadelphia Eagles—despite blowing five fourth-quarter leads and finishing just 8-8—missed winning the NFC East by just one game. If only a handful of plays had gone differently, the Eagles would have made the playoffs and the eventual Super Bowl champion New York Giants would have spent January watching the postseason, rather than playing it. Owner Jeffrey Lurie held a press conference shortly after the season and announced that the...
Anyone who follows the Philadelphia Eagles, or just the NFL, knows the "Dream Team" turned in a nightmare of a season. Despite nearly creeping into the playoffs, an 8-8 season is simply unacceptable, especially with the names the squad has on both sides of the ball. The Eagles certainly have the talent and the coach, but they need to get the entire team on one page. Here are five problems they need to solve to get moving in the right...
