Rasmussen had a very strong Stage 8 and took the lead in the general classification. He now has 43 seconds over Linus Gerdemann and more than 2 minutes on Iban Mayo and Alejandro Valverde (not to mention several minutes on the bulk of the pack).Rasmussen is now the rider to beat.
