Summary: Rachel Burkart was a teacher at Lenoir City High School, a small school serving a town with a population of 7,000. In May of 2008, she abruptly resigned after allegations of an sexual relationship between her and an 18-year-old male student surfaced. Burkhart, who had taught at the school for two years, avoided legal charges as the student was of legal age at the time. However, Tennessee State Superintendent Wayne Miller did revoke her teaching license, and referred the case to child protective services.
