Killer Spector Hates Jail With ‘Scumbags’, very ugly man.

Phil Spector has written letters about his life behind bars, saying he should not be in prison with “lowlife scumbags” like Charles Manson.

The music producer, who is serving a minimum of 19 years for the murder of actress Lana Clarkson, said he feared for his safety at the “snake pit” jail in Corcoran, California.

He told his friend Steve Escobar he was unhappy at being incarcerated alongside notorious murderers including cult leader Manson and Sirhan Sirhan, who assassinated Bobby Kennedy.

Spector said he was working with his legal team “to get a better prison with people more like myself in it during the appeal process instead of all these lowlife scumbags, gangsters and Manson types”.

He added: “Imagine sending me to the same prison - shows how low they can go. They’d kill you in here for a 39-cent bag of soup!”

The 69-year-old wrote about how his wife, Rachelle, has been visiting him every weekend, making an 800-mile round trip from their home in Alhambra each time.

“She’s a real trouper,” he said of the 29-year-old. “All in all, it’s like a dream come true having her by my side again.”

Spector said his wife brings him food packages so he can avoid eating in the prison dining hall with other inmates.

“I know it is a chance to get out of my cell going to the dining room but the less I see of the inmates, the better and safer I feel, even though 24/7 lockdown in a 3′ by 7′ cell is very tough.”

Ms Clarkson, 40, was found shot through the mouth at Spector’s mansion in February 2003.

Spector, who worked with music stars including the Beatles and the Righteous Brothers, was found guilty of her murder after a second trial.
