By now a conservative radio host making disparaging remarks about minorities should not be a shock. However, the reports from the Associated Press stating that Imus, from the nationally syndicated Imus in the Morning radio program called the women of Rutgers basketball team “nappy headed hoes” should shock all of us. I’m sure many have not read this article (I only stumbled upon it during my daily reading of Race in America now called Race and Ethnicity tab on MSNBC) and my fear is that this will just get swept up under coverage of other “important topics” like Newt Gingrich attempting to speak Spanish ... I realize that this posting has nothing to do with the American Revolution, but I don't care. Racism, no matter what its form, is completely unacceptable and MUST be called out. Here is a perfect example of what I am talking about: Earlier today, radio personality Don Imus, who has had previous problems in the past -- specifically for calling Rutgers women's basketball team a bunch of "nappy-headed hoes" -- YET AGAIN put his foot in his big mouth. While discussing the ongoing legal problems of Dallas Cowboys football player, Adam "Pacman" Jones, Imus stated the following: ANNOUNCER: Defensive back Adams "Pacman" Jones, recently ... New York, NY – In more than 20 major U.S. Cities, protestors led by Civil Rights Activist Reverend Al Sharpton to protest the rise in offensive language in Hip Hop music. The "Day of Outrage" took place in several large cities such as New York, Detroit, Los Angeles, Houston, and Chicago amongst others. The purpose of the protest was to demand a change within the permitted use of language (eliminating the usage of the words "bitch," "hoe", and "nigga") within the recording industry. With the outpour of protestors all over the country, many illustrated that they were "sick and tired" of being "sick and ... Read Full Story

Tags: Al Sharpton , Rap Music , Rap Culture , black mass culture , corporations , hip hop From the Washington Post : When Al Sharpton publicly harpooned Don Imus for his " nappy headed hoes " remark, a lot of American's wondered: "is the pot calling the kettle black?" Confirmation of that question may have come during a debate, Monday, when the Reverend said the following about Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney: "As for the one Mormon running for office, those who really believe in God will defeat him anyways, so don't worry about that; that's a temporary situation ." Don Imus is one of the most controversial radio hosts in America. Despite, or maybe because of, this he doesn’t seem to have any trouble getting his own show and getting paid handsomely for doing what he does. The shock jock was fired by CBS and MSNBC a couple of years ago for calling Rutgers University women’s basketball team, “nappy-headed hoes” and “jiggaboos.” So he seems a perfect fit for FOX. Strangely, Imus has been given a job on the FOX Business Network, despite him not knowing anything about business. This video shows him talking to Neil Cavuto about the show he has planned. ... I've decided if Radio has a cockroach, his name is Don Imus. Radio, as we know it, could blow up today in a fiery quake of programming, and when the dust had settled and the last flames were flickering, Don Imus would be standing in the middle of it and muttering to himself, "What punk did this? Geeez....." Imus has been a radio icon for decades and every time they said he was done, they were wrong. Read More. (Opinion) (Photo Credit...

Don Imus' debut on Fox Business was appropriately subdued: "I thought we were on last week," Imus said at 6:05, after business and news headlines. "Trial run," said news sidekick Charles McCord. Guests on the three hour radio/TV program included Sen. John McCain and Glenn Beck. And while we may not see NBC News talent on the air, the son of one was on today. Rolling Stone's Matt Taibbi, son of Mike, was on to talk about his reporting on the...

Ever since long-time radio talker Don Imus inked a deal with the Fox Business Network to simulcast his morning radio program, he said he has been getting pushback from several acquaintances. And as he explained and showed on his Oct. 28 program, he's not particularly pleased with the reaction about his deal with Fox News. Washington Post "It's a fair news organization," Don Imus tells Howard Kurtz. "It's not my job to defend them. But I'm more likely to believe Shep Smith than Katie Couric or Brian Williams. Their news is advertiser-driven." Imus's radio program makes its debut today on Fox Business Network.
